Why should you dream big and be realistic at the same time.
You will be surprised to know that we spend a third of our time daydreaming. This may sound weird but imagine a teenager planting some saplings in his backyard. He is thinking about the plant species and wondering at the discoveries of different species. He thinks that is there any other specie left to discover and whether he can discover them. From there on, he thinks of his dream of becoming a scientist and leading his team to discovering a new specie and getting a nobel Prize. But he thinks that does he have the required discipline and hardworking nature to achieve this. He decides to work hard and be more disciplined.
But do you realise that it is just his dream.
For a long time, it was conceived that daydreaming is a rest position for our brain and our brain doesn't require extra energy for daydreaming. But the scientific studies have shown that when we daydream, the areas of brain associated with past memory and recalling become active. It was found that the blood flow in these areas increases.
After daydreaming, it can result into planning the rest of the day and being motivated to his daily work. Depending upon the domain of daydreaming, he may be motivated to do the things related to that field.
Studies suggest that it can help in being creative, having new ideas and having a positive attitude. It can help envisioning the way to deal with social situations and finding one's way through difficulties.
In teenage, the part of brain associated with logical part and imaginative part is still growing, providing new innovative ideas to the teenagers and making them capable to achieve them. Therefore, it is crucial to dream for developing their imaginative and logical thoughts properly.
