How to be calm under pressure and fear.

Being humans, it is natural for us to feel fear, just like hunger. Every human is bound to feel fear and it is quite normal for humans to feel this. But the ones who overcome their fear and execute their task, outshine the others.

In this blog, I am going to share some common practices, used to stay calm under pressure and fear.

Long Breathing- Whenever you are under pressure, you should take long breaths to supply sufficient oxygen to your brain and try to normalise your heartbeat. Even though the adrenaline secretion, that triggers our heart beat, is not in our control but long breathing can help to a great extent.

Empty your mind- Generally,  before an interview, candidate's minds are filled with a lot of questions and apprehensions, causing unwanted pressure and fear among them. An effective way to counter this is to think about something else than the interview. Generally, thinking about family, friends and good memories helps diverting our mind and removing the pressure. Thinking about the things that gives us happiness, sets an equilibrium in our state of mind, giving us confidence to face the interview.

God- The next technique requires you to be theist. Because the belief of people in God always provides them solace and they feel that they are in the protection of someone superior to them. This sense of a God gives a feeling of security from our fear and relieves us of pressure to some extent.

Lucky Charm- The subsequent thing that is effective for pressure dealing is having a "Lucky Charm". Even though the lucky charm does not have any special powers and it has nothing to do with magic etc. But when you go for an interview with your lucky charm or wearing your lucky shirt or your lucky watch, it boosts your confidence and you perform better in the interview. Therefore Lucky charms work in the situations when you have to perform, like interviews etc. While, they are of no use when your performance is not involved and it is based on pure chance, like gambling etc., where it is pure chance and no performance is involved.

Finally, a tip from my side, that has been of a great use to me to remove the unnecessary fear of an interview. In this technique, candidates can think of any phrases like " I don't care " or "Go to hell" regarding the interviewing officer and speak it in their minds only. Candidates can repeat these phrases in their minds to normalise their hyped mental condition.

You are allowed only to think of it and that too just for the sake of eliminating the excess fear of the interview, you must not speak it otherwise.

I hope this post may be of some use to you.
